Gutter Guards in Columbus & Central Ohio

What it is

About gutter guards

Guards reduce maintenance — they don't eliminate it. Fine material like pine needles and shingle grit can still collect, guard surfaces can hold leaves, and roof valleys can overwhelm any system in a heavy storm. Anyone promising "never clean again" isn't being straight with you.

Which guard makes sense depends on the house. We look at the condition of your existing gutters, the roof pitch, what kind of trees are nearby, the type of debris you get, and how the downspouts drain. If the gutters themselves are failing, putting guards on them first doesn't make sense — and we'll say so.

What’s typically included

  • Review of existing gutter condition and attachment
  • Discussion of guard types suited to your trees and roof
  • Gutters cleaned before guards go on
  • Guard fitting and installation
  • Water-flow check after installation

Final scope is confirmed in your estimate.

Signs to watch for

Common problems homeowners notice

  • Cleaning gutters several times a year and still seeing overflow
  • Heavy tree cover right over the roofline
  • Pine needles or seed pods clogging downspouts
  • Gutters that fill again within weeks of cleaning
  • Hard-to-reach rooflines you'd rather not have serviced as often

How we work

Our approach

  1. 01

We start with the gutters: if they're sound, guards can go on; if not, we'll talk about repair or replacement first.

  2. 02

We explain the main guard categories and which fits your debris type and roof.

  3. 03

Gutters are cleaned and flushed before installation.

  4. 04

After install, we run water to confirm it reaches the downspouts.

Questions

Gutter Guards FAQ

Do gutter guards eliminate gutter maintenance?

No. They reduce how much debris gets into the gutter, but guards still need occasional checks and cleaning, especially under heavy trees or pines.

What are the different options for gutter guards?

Common categories include micro-mesh and fine screens, perforated metal covers, foam and brush inserts, and reverse-curve (surface-tension) covers. They differ in how well they handle fine debris and how easy they are to service. Roof pitch, tree type and gutter size all affect which makes sense.

Can guards go on my existing gutters?

Often, if the gutters are in good shape and properly pitched. If they're leaking, sagging or undersized, it's usually better to address that first.

Will guards stop ice dams?

No. Ice dams are caused by heat and snow conditions on the roof. Guards don't prevent them.
